With the holiday season only a few short months away, it won't be long before we're knee-deep in everything Christmas. Christmas 2026 is already shaping up to be an interesting event, with our stylists spotting brand-new, never-seen-before trends and old ideas transformed into something completely different. In this EZ Living Furniture blog, we discuss items that are shaping Christmas 2026, so you can save time shopping for those trending pieces that can help your theme come to life!

Red velvet bows and ribbon from EZ Living Furniture.

1. Ribbons & Bows

This year, there's a strong focus on ribbons and bows. Gorgeous velvet bows and long, flowing ribbons are at the top of the Christmas trends list for 2026. Velvet bows have been popular for some time, but we've never seen them like this. Oversized bows are replacing traditional angel Christmas toppers, creating a maximalist vibe for the holiday season. Smaller, traditional bows are also as popular as ever, but instead of a small sprinkling here and there, we're seeing tonnes of bows being used to almost cover entire Christmas trees, wreaths, and garlands. Large ribbons are being used as tools to hide gaps in trees and create fuller-looking displays. If you're looking to add to your Christmas decorations this year, bows and ribbons should be your first stop!

2. Disco Balls

Forget modern Christmas themes; vintage and retro trends are where it's at this year! That's right, Christmas 2026 is seeing traditional baubles replaced with mirrored disco balls. We won't lie, it's a strange trend, and not one we expected to see on our Christmas trend list, but we're not mad at it! It creates an interesting talking point and adds an element of interest to Christmas tree decor. This retro theme is bringing us right back to the disco era of the mid 70s to early 80s, and it's not just trees that are experiencing this vibrant and unexpected change. Christmas wreaths are also getting a brighter, playful update, with entire wreaths made from disco balls becoming the must-have decorative piece this holiday season!

3. Glass Icicle Decorations

It's not all big and bold this holiday season, even though the focus is largely on giant bows and reflective baubles. No, Christmas 2026 is being balanced with smaller details too. Delicate Christmas ornaments, specifically icicles, are bang on trend and help to bridge the gap between maximalist design and minimalistic decor. And sometimes it's the smallest details that can have the biggest impact, and that's certainly the case here. Icicles sitting alongside big bows and sparkling disco balls can help to add that finishing touch to your decor this Christmas!

4. Jewel-Toned Baubles

Emeralds, rubies, and sapphires, oh my! Rich, jewel tones are set to dominate this Christmas. Deeper shades such as navy, burgundy and emerald are ones to watch and are being paired with warm metallics, such as gold or brass, for an elegant, elevated finish. So, when you're choosing baubles for your Christmas tree this year, think of these trending colours. And if you really want to set your Christmas decor apart from the rest, don't forget to add warm white lights to bring out the depth of the darker colours.

Fine tinsel on Christmas tree

5. Tinsel Touches

If you're a child from the 80s or 90s, you might be reluctant to bring tinsel back into your home, but this year, we have a very good reason for it – it's trending. Instead of tinsel garlands, this year's Christmas trend focuses on fine tinsel, you know, the kind you buy in a bag or as part of a strip. Christmas 2026 is paying homage to vintage Christmas gone by, and this fine tinsel is one way of doing it. Red, silver, or gold, all are recommended and can be used to bring your Christmas decor to life. One item that must not be without tinsel is your Christmas tree! Used generously across each branch, tinsel can turn a "nothing special tree" into something magical and eye-catching.

6. Nostalgic Decor & Ornaments

Christmas isn't complete without nostalgic decorations, ornaments, and family heirlooms. This year, every decoration needs to tell a story and hint at wonderful childhood memories. The best way to do this is by introducing some cheeky characters like reindeer, horses, snowmen, and penguins, to name a few. EZ Living Furniture has lots to choose from, but our favourite is the Resin Rocking Horse on Wheels Christmas Figurine, which mimics a rustic, hand-carved wooden rocking horse, perfect for hinting at times gone by.
