We know, we know, it’s not even Christmas yet, but it is time to start thinking about the home trends you can expect to see in 2024. The New Year is just around the corner and with it comes brand new colours and a wealth of interesting design choices. It’s important to take note of the incoming trends in advance of their introduction so as to “stay ahead of the curve” with regard to home decor. The colours listed in this latest EZ Living Furniture blog are set to dominate the months ahead, not just in home interiors, but across the fashion and design world. So, what are you waiting for? Be the envy of all your neighbours and incorporate some of the top colours of 2024 into your home and your wardrobe.
Powder Blue
Blue is one of those colours that is guaranteed to remain popular year after year. Unsurprisingly, it’s on our list of predictions for 2024 too, but instead of royal blues like we’re used to seeing, it’s powder blues that are set to take control. Blue is very powerful and has the ability to instantly rejuvenate any stale space. Contradictory to this though, it can also imbue an overwhelming sense of calm in those in its presence. This colour can balance tranquillity and energy in a way that no others can. Powder blue is an easy shade to use if you are looking to add something to your home, but not go overboard. It has an icy tone that can be used all year long both in your wardrobe and interiors. Use powder blue as the chosen paint colour for your walls or as the fabric colour for your furnishings (like the Alexander Armchair above). If you want to introduce it in smaller doses, you could always include this colour with some smaller home accessories.
Mint Green
We’re used to seeing mint green in other aspects of our lives, but rarely in decor or fashion. Well, prepare to be shocked because mint green is here and it’s expected to create a wonderfully unique feature in our homes and wardrobes in 2024. This soon-to-be-trending colour is the perfect pop of colour to enhance your look. Overall, pastels are incredibly versatile and can be paired with a number of other shades and this green tone is no different. On its own, it's both soft and flattering and as you can see in our Grenoble bedroom set up above, it is incredibly calming and luxurious in the right setting.
Blush Pink
2023 was the year of Barbie, but it seems this culture and associated colours will continue to reign in 2024. Thankfully it’s not the bright, hot pink you might automatically think of when you first think of Barbie. It’s predicted that shades of playful blush and baby pink will dominate in the upcoming year. This timeless classic will bring a natural tranquillity into the home and is a nice change from the off-white and buttery tones we are used to seeing. Still not convinced? You can easily create your own Barbie Dream House with the Clonbur Pink Sofa above!
Earthy Taupe
We aren’t finished with neutrals just yet, they have encompassed every aspect of our lives, homes, and wardrobes in the last few years and it looks like this is set to continue in 2024. Next year though, we are moving away from lifeless neutrals and instead focusing on warm taupe and brown colours. The Tara Armchair above is a perfect example of what is to be bang on trend for the New Year. This warming mushroom shade has already featured in our wardrobes, but less so in our interiors, and quite frankly, it’s a welcome addition.
Full-Bodied Red
Next on the list is strong, full-bodied reds as shown on the Commodore Rug above. It’s surprising because we haven’t really talked about red since the 1990s. What might be even more surprising is that this fiery colour is then being paired with blush pinks (the other shade on our list). Mixing red and pink is usually a fashion faux pas, but it seems this concept is encouraged for 2024. These two shades might just be the unassuming power couple we didn’t know we needed for next year.
Lemon Sorbet Yellow
It’s not often we come across this shade of yellow in interiors, but it’s about time you started embracing it because next year it’s going to be huge! This midtone, muted, sunflower yellow would be the perfect paint colour for a kitchen when paired with a white trim. Alternatively, you could use this tone in smaller doses by using home accessories. Just look at the Satara small yellow glass vase pictured above, it’s the exact colour that you should expect to see more of next year and is a relatively inexpensive way of bringing in this trending shade.
Olive & Dark Green
It’s not just mint green that’s making a comeback next year, almost every shade of green is. Of course, we have already been introduced to most of these other tones in the last year or two. Olive green, forest green, and watercress in particular are shades set to remain popular in 2024. Nature-inspired, calming, and comforting, it’s no surprise that we are embracing these colours yet again. The Easton Dining Chair above would perfectly complement a variety of dining room decor and is one example of the olive green colour expected to take over in 2024.
With so many colour predictions on the list for next year, you’ll surely find one that speaks to your personal style.
