It’s December, which means it’s time to look back on our social media accounts and the content we (EZ Living Furniture) have posted over the last month. Not only this but our Do’s & Don’ts blogs are all about the most popular reels from each month and what we can learn from them. In this November edition of our Do’s & Don’ts, you will discover how to decorate each room using the 60-30-10 rule, be able to choose the perfect rug and style your Island, and finally, decorate a small space for Christmas! Simply read our tips below or press the play button on each video for a visual representation of the tips.

Rules Of Interior Design - 60 - 30 - 10 Rule

1. When decorating any room, it’s best to use the 60-30-10 rule.

2. This means 60% of the room should be decorated in a leading colour/dominant hue. Think walls, floors, & curtains.

3. 30% should be reserved for your secondary colour. Things like furniture & hardware are perfect for this.

4. Finally, 10% should be your accent colour. You can include this colour with home accessories & greenery.

Styling Made EZ: The Perfect Rug For A 3, 2, 1 Combo

1. Avoid using rugs that are too small for a larger sofa suite.

2. When a rug is too small for your sofa suite, it will sit awkwardly in front of it.

3. A larger rug measuring at 200 x 300cm will sit under all of the front legs of a large sofa and makes the living room space feel far more inviting.

How To Style Your Island When The Dishes Are Done

1. Use a tray in the centre of the island.

2. A tray will unite all of the items and automatically define them as a group, ultimately making it look like a purposeful feature instead of a mix of random items.

3. Use seasonal fresh or faux flowers to your tray to add colour and texture.

4. Finally, pair them with stunning candle holders to wind down the evening.

5. It’s just the EZ!

Styling Made EZ: Decorating A Small Space For Christmas

1. If your home is on the smaller scale and you don’t have enough space for a Christmas tree, use a decorative ladder as an alternative.

2. Add touches of greenery and Christmas sprays/pearls.

3. Add texture by using different ribbons and stagger your baubles on each tier on the ladder.

4. It’s just that EZ!
