It's time to get ahead of the game and start planning for one of the most exciting celebrations of the year - Christmas! It's only a few short months away, and somehow it still feels like it was only just Christmas last year. Essentially, we're running out of time to plan, decorate, and shop. Soon, town festive lights will be switched on, holiday songs will play out over city speakers, and the preparations for Santa's arrival will be underway. While some are still focusing on spooky season, others are quietly planning ways to sneak new Christmas decorations into our homes. Still, without a solid plan or visual design, you can end up with a random combination of decorations that don't follow any theme and look out of sync and confused when displayed together. Well, no more. This EZ Living Furniture guide is here to help you decorate your home to a professional standard using 6 pro tips and Christmas ornaments you already have or additional baubles, wreaths, and garlands you plan on adding to your collection. So, what are you waiting for? Let's deck the halls!

1. Choose A Festive Theme
Deciding on a Christmas theme is probably one of the hardest decisions you'll ever make in your entire life. Ok, we might be being a tad dramatic here, but it's an important decision nonetheless. Choosing a theme is one of the first steps when it comes to Xmas decorating and something that shouldn't be ignored. This decision will give you a good sense of the colour scheme, textures, and elements you will be working with. When researching all of the various themes and trends, you must pick the one that calls to you personally. Remember, you need to absolutely love the theme you choose because you could potentially be looking at it for years to come. If you're looking for ideas and inspiration to help with your decision, there are so many places to find it, but none better than our own blog! Of course, you could also try searching online or browsing physical stores with professional Christmas displays (like ours). Shop our full list of stores here.

2. Invest In A Quality Tree
Let's be honest, Christmas isn't Christmas without a luxurious Christmas tree to represent it! It's the one decoration you can't be without, which is why we felt it was necessary to include it in its own section. High-quality artificial Christmas trees, like those found in EZ Living Furniture, are crafted using premium materials, look more realistic than cheaper alternatives, and tend to last much longer too! Choosing a tree made from durable materials is incredibly important because it means your tree will not only offer stable and reliable support for your decorations but also means it will stand up to repeated use year after year. Low-quality and cheaper trees are instantly recognisable from their bare branches and the number of gaps that are visible (too many to count). You can try and fill those gaps with baubles and a selection of Christmas tree decorations, but typically, these trees will still look a bit sad. We suggest opting for a traditional-style tree with minimal decoration, rather than something that's on trend. In doing so, you can add your own colours and textures with baubles, clips, and sprays, and you can change up your colour scheme year after year.

3. Shape & Fluff Your Tree's Branches
This tip is one that many non-professionals will overlook entirely or not spend enough time on. You can't underestimate the importance of a perfectly flocked Christmas tree. While it's considered a time-consuming task, the difference it can make to a tree is immense, including fuller, bushier branches and a more natural appearance. The end result is a full-bodied tree that looks like it came straight out of a showroom.
To flock a tree, you must begin by separating each branch from one another so they have enough space to fan out and cover as much area as possible. Don't be afraid to bend them in a certain way to fill in any gaps. The key to a professional-looking tree is to spend time getting the branches looking right first before adding any additional Christmas decorations such as baubles, sprays, or ribbons, etc.

4. Maximalism Is Key
Christmas is about going all out. When we say "all out", we mean maximalism, and every corner of the room should scream Christmas time. There should be a festive element in every corner of the room, whether that's a fun penguin, a cheeky Santa, or a happy-go-lucky snowman. It should look like Christmas has exploded, but in the most elegant and magical way possible. There's no such thing as "too much"; just make sure you're introducing lots of colour and texture to create a real statement and add depth to the look. If you've chosen a theme, remember to use colours and patterns that reflect that theme on your Christmas tree and any additional Christmas decor such as a garland or wreath, etc.

5. Be Creative & Enjoy It
Now's the perfect time to be creative. Just because it is labelled and advertised for a certain use does not mean that it needs to be used for that and only that. For instance, a Christmas wreath is something typically found on a door, but our professional interior team uses them and other items in various ways. Placed in the middle of a coffee table or dining table, a Christmas wreath is the perfect centrepiece. The hole in the centre of the wreath is great for candles and adds to the entire look of a centrepiece, especially at Christmas time. Wreaths also look great on interior doors and can be hung above a bed frame or from a mirror in a hallway to add a touch of magic to every room in the home.

6. Finishing Touches are Key
Items such as throws and cushions can add that finishing touch to your interior decor, especially at Christmas time. It can be the difference between a professional look and something that's thrown together. It can link all of your accessories together and create a cohesive look and colour scheme. Not only do these smaller accessory items add to an interior look, but when it gets a little chillier, they're great for snuggling up into.
